To minimize costs and mitigate risk, Schlumberger recommended CoilTOOLS tools and solutions to rig up the 24-ft packer assembly using CT instead, eliminating a redundant crew and truck on location. Schlumberger sourced the swivel connection and knuckle joints to make up the packer horizontally, allowing the operator to mill out 21 wells and set packers after milling operations with the same crew. This brought average job time down to 10 hours and saved a total of USD 395,000.

Background
An operator needed a downhole barrier to isolate the annulus immediately after millout. However, setting packers with wireline required a standby wireline crew on location in addition to a coiled tubing crew to rig down and rig up for each well, which could take up to 40 hours per well.
